International die, mould industry expo attracts record number of exhibitors

The international exhibition on die and mould technology that opened Monday in Shanghai has drawn a record 1,200 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions.
The expo, the 11th of its kind, has devoted a floor space of approximately 60,000 sq m, the largest so far, to diverse business displays, according to sources from the China Die and Mould Industry Association, one of the two organizers.
A range of trade and technological exchange activities will also be held during the five-day expo, including a workshop on technologies for automotive matrix making.
The die and mould industry has been expanding at an average annual rate of some 20 percent in recent years across China. The country reaped 61 billion yuan (about 7.52 billion U.S. dollars) in domestic sales of die and moulds last year, up some 25 percent from a year ago.
Customs statistics also show that China exported 740 million U.S. dollars worth of die and mould products last year, comparing 490 million U.S. dollars in 2004.
