China's price of imported oil rises
May 23, 2006 (China Knowledge) – The average price of oil imported through the Guangdong customs for the first four months this year saw a 59.4% increase to US$384.10 per ton, according to statistics from the provincial customs.
Since the beginning of this year, the price of imported oil has been on the upsurge due to price hikes in the global market. The price of imported oil in March rose to US$388.90 per ton from the January price of US$355.20 per ton. In April, the price escalated to a record US$421.60 per ton.
During the time, total import volume reached 4.97 million tons, 15.8% less than the same period a year ago. However, total expenses increased 34.3% to US$1.91 billion.
